About us

A bit about us…

Repeat Repeat designs and makes things, mainly bone china pottery – from mugs and tableware through to  Enfant Collection of nurseryware.

Our designs may be contemporary, but we use traditional techniques to create them, keeping alive the age-old skills and craftsmanship of the English Potteries.

We set up as a small design studio in 1984. We took on commissions of all sorts — graphics, illustrations and textile designs. But working in Stoke-on-Trent, with its 400-year-old pottery heritage, we soon started applying our ideas to bone china.

In a local factory we watched as our designs slowly transformed from ideas on paper through to the finished product - going through many fascinating processes along the way. As soon as we saw our first set of finished bone china mugs, still glowing hot from the kilns - we were hooked.

We now have our very own factory and design studio – an old Co-op building in the heart of Stoke. Most of our bone china is made in the traditional way by pouring liquid clay into a mould by hand. It’s a difficult process to get right and we’re picky about quality -  these may be everyday objects, but we want every single one to be as pleasing and precious as possible.

…and our studio

Alongside the main Repeat Repeat bone china collections we have a design studio specialising in illustration, graphics and of course ceramics. We’ve produced one-off designs and collections for major department stores, art galleries, museums, and design-led retailers.

…and our name

Repeat Repeat is a nod to the many textile repeat patterns that we designed in our early days. Our real names are Gillian Naylor and Mark Faulkner.

In spite of the decline of local industry, we’re determined to fly the flag and keep the traditions of the English potteries alive.
